If you have short children there may be ride restrictions even if they're old enough.

Heathcliffscathy · 11/03/2010 22:03

if going at easter make sure you book q bot in advance.

you will be really limited on rides but they will have a blast anyway.

easter will be heaving busy.

Cadelaide · 11/03/2010 22:05

Only go in term time, the queues in the school hols are atrocious.

The food is crap throughout, take your own.

Otherwise great a highly recommended.

Cheappinkfizz · 11/03/2010 22:13

Oh no will ds 4 be too young? I wa thinking of taking before the summer hols start

BarbEDahl · 11/03/2010 22:15

NEVER go in the holidays!

Pay the extra to jump the queues.

Take your own food and drinks.

We took Ds1 when he was 3 and he was able to do loads. He is quite tall for his age.

wheelies · 14/03/2010 14:12

waterproofs, waterproofs and er waterproofs

LIZS · 14/03/2010 14:19

The water rides get you very wet and if it isn't sunny you don't really dry off (there are air driers for £££). Queues for driving school and fire engines take longer to move than you think. There is very little indoors if weather is cold/damp.

NoahAndTheWhale · 14/03/2010 14:23

DS and I went last summer when he was 5. We got a qbot, got there early, stayed until we were kicked out and had a great time

I was glad jyst he and I went rather than dh abd dd who was 3 coming too as it meant we only needed to consider us. Had a picnic watching a show and were very glad of wet rides as was a v hot day.

TheLadyEvenstar · 14/03/2010 14:34

DEFINATLY take your own food, we have been there quite a lot and normally took our own food but the last time there were so many of us we decided to eat there. Not only did we wait ages for the food the DC all complained the beefburgers tasted of fish - which they did!! My mum and I order a rack of ribs and waited 40 minute for them by which time we have complained about the burgers the chips were cold, the drinks flat or tasteless. BUT the rest of the day was brilliant we all enjoyed the rides including DS2 who was just 18m old, there was plenty for him to do.

We went when DDs were just turned 3 and 4.5yrs old. There was plenty to do for them. It was Oct half term so busy but not too bad. Because of DDs' ages we didn't go on any of the big rides so didn't experience the queuing.

Def bring own food. Very expensive and a lot of the seating is outside so don't even benefit from an indoor seat!

They do little shows (cinderella, etc) that are under cover but get a bit busy so bag a seat while you are having a picnic.

We were there for a full day and didn't get bored.

TopSop · 16/03/2010 14:55

Food is expensive. BYO.
Plenty to do for 3 yr olds (we took our DS for his third birthday) but he was just too small for some of the rides, not that it mattered as those were the "scary ones" according to him. can't have been that bad though as he is CONSTANTLY on at us to go back! Duploland was good for the littlies - we had a struggle to get him out of there!
Stay overnight in a hotel and get a 2 day pass - then if the kids or you run out of energy you can go back the following day, or if you decide NOT to queue for something in particular you can go there first on day 2... Lots of good deals to be had!

thesteelfairy2 · 16/03/2010 15:02

You need to have two adults or older child will miss out on rides they want to go on.
QBot is worth it.
DO NOT EVER go on weekends or school holidays.
If going for the whole day take some food as greasy chips and nuggets wear thin after a while.
It is actually a really good day out as long as you abide by the above rules!
If a nice day take swimming costumes and towels as there is a great water play area.

thesteelfairy2 · 16/03/2010 15:03

I take ds out of school for the day to go.

thesteelfairy2 · 16/03/2010 15:08

Loads of rides for all age groups toddlers and older children.
The Models are fab, my dc are 3 and 7 and the models are their favourite.
Sometimes a good idea to go a bit later and be there towards closing time, it really empties out then and you can get on everything without queuing.
