Anyone got any good ideas for a reasonably-priced summer holiday this year? Preferably abroad, but not Magaluf-type place.

dcs are 12 and 10, happy with pool, beach and copious quantities of ice-cream.

dh and I are considerably older, happy to potter, sight-see, like nice views, seeing interesting things (we're not really into culture in a big way though ), and copious quantities of red wine.

Happy to do a bit of active stuff, but want something a bit different from a bog standard package to the Costas.

We only want one week away, in school hols, budget no more than £1500.

anyone got any ideas?

TIA

Have you considered Croatia before?

I have been going there for 30 years and there is a lot to see. Unfortunately it is not a swimming pool culture
( although hotels have them) as the sea is calm and wanderful they are not that popular. It is stunning, and there are not many Brits- just an idea for you.

What about Turkey? We go there for our holidays and the children love it.
