London - a couple of questions

So lovely dh is sending me to London tomorrow for a night away alone. I'm staying in Bloomsbury so I'm hoping to go to the British Museum before dinner as it looks to be open late. Can anybody suggest nice places to eat in that neighbourhood - or places to avoid? I will be alone (with a book) but that doesn't bother me so I don't mind very couple orientated places.

Also - from Russell Square what tube do i need for Westminster and what for Oxford Street - I could look it up but the tube map does confuse me!

Can't recommend any where to eat. But Westminster is on the Jubilee line and district. And Oxford street is central line, either Bond Street or Oxford Circus stop.

Russell Square to Westminster - get northbound Piccadilly Line to Green Park , change for southbound Jubilee Line and get off at Westminster.

To Oxford Street - get Piccadilly to Holborn and change for central line to Oxford Circus

There are lots of eateries in BRunswick Place (just outside Russell Square tube, but they tend to be chains like Carluccios and Giraffe - often full of children which I suspect might not suit your night alone.
Hope someone comes along with suggestion of a nice local eaterie for you.
Have fun! I'm very

Ooh sounds great! This italian on Lamb's Conduit Street is not too far www.ciaobellarestaurant.co.uk/ - I have only been for lunch but they are really friendly and I have seen Rupert Everett in there more than once! If not, I think there is a Tas on the corner of Great Russell Street and Gower Street, and in fact the restaurant at the British Museum is pretty nice.

I might walk to Oxford Street from Russell Square - and then get the tube from Bond Street to Westminster (Jubilee line). Definitely walk to Holborn from Russell Square if you're doing it that way as it's just down the road.

Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestions - I will check them out. I am really excited actually. Dh is very often in London for work - staying in hotels and eating out so he thought it was time we swapped

There's a bus directly from Russell Sq which goes past the British Museum then onto Oxford Street and all the way along it (past Bond St) to Marble Arch - sorry I don't remember the no. but you could check the bus map on TfL's website.
