We'll be staying with my parents over Easter (near Corbridge, Northumberland) and are treating ourselves to a night away. Any recommendations?

Matfen Hall

Have dtsyed at Matfen Hal, Hardwich Hall and Slaley Hall, Slaley was my fave. However, the absolute best imo is Seaham Hall

Thanks all! I've been to the spa at Matfen Hall, it's very nice. Have had a few recommendations for Seaham Hall now - think we'll probably go there. Will hang on to all your tips for future visits though

Was just about to say Slaley Hall, tis lovely, see I have been beaten to it

geordieminx · 05/03/2010 17:19

Seaham def better than slaley.

Also hotel du vin or grey street hotel in newcastle?

liath · 05/03/2010 17:26

If you have the ££ I'd also recommend Seaham Hall - went there for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was lovely and also very friendly and un-up itself IYSWIM for a posh place.

Matfen also very nice.

If you can go to Seaham in the week rather than the weekend Mr and Mrs Smith were doing 2 nights for the price of 1. It was linked to the Times - I can dig out the passwords if you want.
