Urgently seeking gorgeous family friendly accomodation in the southern Med. Any ideas.

[Aubergines]

We have the last two weeks in April off and are hoping the Southern Med will be warming up by then. We don't mind which country we go to, and money isn't tight, but we are hoping to find the following:

somewhere not too touristy
a v family friendly ethos
beautiful accomodation
self catering
but walking distance to cafes
a pool
space, indoor and out, for the kids to play
driving distance to intersting places to visit
at least two beds

ideally I would love a cluster of cottages where other kids might be staying, but I appreciate that might be asking too much

any recommendations gratefully received.

Though obviously too far north!

Aubergine - I'm looking for the same place - exploring Nissaki, Corfu and Stoupa as well (also based on janinlondon's recommendations in the past) - but I think the place jil is recommending in Stoupa is a drive to the beach, no?

Mousses in Lefkas was good and did all this - but that was 5 years ago with 3 and 5 year old - and not sure how it's changed.

We've also had recommded the Simpson Travel place in Zakynthos (which used to be owned by Simply) but not sure how that is these days...

Not sure what baby friendly boltholes is - but will explore - but have 7 and 10 year old now so (no offence) would rather find places where the girls can make friends around a pool but in a villa complex.

We went to Zakynthos last year. Not good but apparently it's been upgraded since. Also, not helped by a 24-hour marathon trip - direct flight cancelled due to a air traffic control strike, plus fire service strike at airport so were flown to Athens then carted around in coaches for hours before a ferry ride that arrived at 1.30 in the morning. Great. Am looking for exactly what you are Aubergine but, preferably, in Spain. Cluster of cottages would be ideal.
