Janbo - haven't been to Majorca with a baby but I reckon you could buy most things. Someone who is better informed will probably be along soon.

Are you breast feeding or formula? If formula we always took the formula in individual sachets when travelling (it was expensive relative to the tin but much more portable). A friend used to take disposable bottles but I always took a bottle of Milton's sterilising stuff for bottles/teats etc. If you're staying somewhere with a microwave you don't have to bother - just bung them in a big bowl with a bit of water and steam them in the microwave. Re food - if you're using a particular brand of baby food it's worth googling to see whether it's available in Spain.

Have a lovely, lovely holiday. I always worked myself into a complete lather about what to take but dh always just shrugged and said 'people in other countries have babies too' and assumed we could get hold of whatever we needed!

its very british, you'll probably get most things there. Nice place - keep quiet about it

Janbo25 · 19/07/2005 16:31

I've heard it's full of germans??

OP posts:

the menus outside the many restauants are printed in English and German so they obviously get lots of both. However when we were there we saw far more English than German. That was out of season, may be different peak time. We didn't have a baby with us so I can't be sure about baby items but there were lots of shops.

If you're hiring a car the mountains are impressive and will allow you to cool down.

Janbo25 · 20/07/2005 08:12

where abouts did you stay tatt?? we are getting a car so will go to the mountains is there anywhere else worthy of recomendation??

would have to look up name of hotel. Don't think I want to name it as I may want to go again and don't want it becoming impossible to book But we were about two thirds the way along the beach towards the harbour. We used to stroll there for the rock pools (not especially good pools but if there is one anywhere around we've pestered into visiting it). I've seen far prettier harbours. As the hotel had an excellent kids club we just lazed around most of the time, went shopping or visited a park and just hired a car to visit the mountains. We did make a trip to the nature reserve but that might not be your sort of thing. It has some birds you won't see in this country.

katierocket · 21/07/2005 09:14

mallorca is fine with a baby. You can get nappies, baby food, formula if you need it.

Be warned: if you use SMA you cannot buy it anywhere in Majorca. Somewhere where we were staying contacted SMA before they went and said there are no stockists. Wish we'd have done that; we just assumed they would have it. From memory, I think most of the baby stuff is Nestle. They have some jars, but much less choice than we get here. And when we looked last year, there were no organic babyfood jars.
