Hi there, new to this so hope i am doing it right . We are looking to go to France this year (mid July), there will be 8 adults, including a 17 month old and an expectant mother. We would like to stay in self catering accomodation not too far from civilisation, preferably somewhere warmish, with a pool or near a beach. Can anyone recommend an area so i can narrow my accomodaiton search down please? Or even better an actual place to stay. Many thanks in advance

If you are prepared to travel a bit further, then I can throughly recommend the Languedoc region down in the south as it still has plenty of unspoilt real France and tons of things to see and do. My parents have a villa there and they advehave an advert here on the Mumsnet Small Ads. If you take a look on the website, you'll find lots of information of things to do and see in the region too and if there is anything else you want to know, just ask!

Good luck

You will never get guaranteed "warm" within four hours from Calais. Though Normandy and Brittany are easily doable in that time and offer beautiful beaches and countryside Hopefully July weather should be good. We stayed in the countryside near Lisieux in June and it was lovely. Honfleur and surrounding area is very nice.
