Menorca in October - has anyone been?

Horribly excited because we're thinking of going abroad for the first time in 9 years and I've found a villa in Son Bou in October for a really good price and can pay with the flights with Tesco Clubcard vouchers

Has anyone been to Menorca (or around there) in October - will I get sun and warmth (ever...)?? And will places be open - restaurants, playgrounds etc.?

Don't want to spend a year's worth of vouchers to stay somewhere cold in the rain for a week with nothing to do - I can get that here...

I have been many times as I have a property on the island

October Pluses

Sea is warm as its had the whole summer plus many beach waters are shallow so the water is warm

Accommodation prices are lower as are the peak food season menu pricing

Activities Son Bou is a dedicated tourist resort so will be open-only questions ar last week if the season has been weak and bar owners fed up etc, but that's true most places?

The local town of Alaior 5km away is always open and much better for food and other shopping

Weather

I smile when people ask how warm is it in early or late season in X. We are living in a phase of unpredictable weather so that is how it is - unpredictable

IMHO To get guaranteed warmth in October you need to be looking a 4hour plus flights to middle east and beyond

I have had amazing sunny weather in April and October the only thing is a pulli for evening when sitting outside after 9pm etc

Thanks Papi that's really helpful!

I went ahead and booked the apartment so it's all systems go - just need a few more vouchers to book the flights...

Good to know about Alaior as I was worrying a bit about restaurants and shops being open - more for ds's than us, so that's great - will the buses be running do you know - we won't have a hire car.

Thanks again - we're going to get ds's those swim suit thingies so hopefully they'll be fine in the sea and/or pool at the complex.

Cheers!
