Closest airport to Ipswich

Forgive my Scottish ignorance of English geography
Is Stansted the closest airport to Ipswich?
I'm visiting friends later this month & would like to fly. Didn't like to admit I didn't know where to fly into.

There's an airport at Norwich. Not sure if it's closer than Stansted though?

Stansted probably your best bet. Norwich possibly marginally nearer, but no flights from Scotland AFAIK.

Flybe.com do cheap flights from Glasgow/Edinburgh to Norwich. Its worth having a fiddle round with your dates to get the cheapest flights. The main driving routes into Norwich are mostly single carriageway which in the summer months can be a bit of a nightmare.

Norwich airport details here flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh, and possibly Aberdeen.

Stansted offers many more options in terms of destination and times, and isn't much further.
