Hi all just looking for some reassurance really. We have booked a family holiday to sarigerme holiday village in Turkey at the recommendation of the travel agent..however since booking everyone has told us it will be too hot for my baby who will be 12 months old.

Anyone been with a small child? also any reviews on the place itself?

thanks

What month are you going? It does get very hot in July and August but the other months are not so bad. Saying that even if you go mid summer you should still be ok as long as you keep your baby out of the sun. Take lots of high factor baby sun cream with you, a hat, a UV suit for swimming and a shade for the pushchair. Make sure your little one drinks lots of cool bottled water and buy some Johnsons baby cologne when you get there to splash on her skin to keep her cool.

I first took my baby to Turkey when she was 8 weeks and we lived there until she was 18 months. She never suffered with the heat, babies are more adaptable to things than we think sometimes.

I have never been to Sarigerme but if you need to know anything else about taking a baby to Turkey just ask.

Presumably Turkish babies manage .

yes - arrange your day around mornings out at the pool / beach, then an indoor / shady rest or siesta, then back out after 3pm.

There is often a breze by the sea.

Does you apartment have AC?

Hi thanks for your replies, we are going in August due to having an older school age child.

The apartments so have air con, personally i thought it would be fine but people make you doubt yourself dont they!

Nefret - what are the nappies like in Turkey? Just wondering whether it is worth buying them there rather than taking loads with us for 2 weeks, also what are they called?

thanks again

There will be a supermarket - it will have nappies - probably Pampers!

We went in August 2009 with a 1 year old. Was fine and we bought all baby stuff there. Enjoy!

You can buy Pampers nappies there, they are called Prima and they are about the same price as at home in the bigger supermarkets. I used to use Turkish brands, Molfix, Evy Baby and Can Baby were al good and cheaper than Prima. you can also get wipes but bring your own nappy sacks as you can't get those there.

We are going to Turkey in August too. Have a great time x
