Puerto Pollensa, Majorca - which hotel?!

We've pretty much decided that Pollensa would be a good place to go for our first holiday abroad since children, who are 7 and 4. But my dilemma is which hotel? I really want hotel facilities rather than self-catering (I don't want to prepare breakfast etc!) but am not keen on too much loud "entertainment" all day long. Not bothered about kids clubs but a few activities would be good. Any ideas/recommendations? Am I asking too much?!

I recommend the Valetin Puerto Azul. about a minute from beach and is a suite hotel, so you get seperate livingroom, with kitchen facilities. So you don't have to sit in the bathroom while the kids fall asleep!. The hotel is hb and really set up for kids.

Beaches in Puerto Pollensa are fantastic and it is a brilliant place for a holiday with young children.

Thank you! I'll investigate that one.

If by any chance you change your mind about the resort, check out the 'Viva' chain on Majorca. We stayed at one in Alcudia and one in Palma Nova with our children aged 6 & 9 and they are wonderful. The childrens entertainment is second to none and the main problem we had was dragging the kids away from the hotel to spend some time (& money!!) elsewhere!

We went self catering to PP, there are not many hotels that are central. The Puerto Azul is in a great spot, so close to the beach and marina. But.. havent stayed there so cant recommend it. Check out reviews on tripadvisor.

A friend of mine stayed in Playa Mar and loved it, but it is a much longer walk into the centre.

It is such a lovely resort and cant wait to go back.

Yes, I've been looking on Trip Advisor, but not sure if it's a help or a hindrance! There may be 40 Excellent reviews but I'll dwell on the 3 terrible ones!

Incidentally, this is my first post on mumsnet talk. Is there any way of knowing when there have been replies to your message? I've just bookmarked the page and checked back now and then.

Another vote for the Puerto Azul - we've been 3 times! There's nothing glitzy about it but it's just a really nice family hotel and you've got all the Thomson Superfamily stuff if you want it plus it's in a great location. PP is a great resort - I don't think you can beat it in Majorca for families.
