Any suggestions for hotel with free or reduced rate long term parking near Gatwick

Subject line says it all. It's been many years since I've flown from Gatwick and I have found myself booked on a flight which requires us to book in vvvvv early in the morning.

I used to just use a valet parking service when I lived in London and was travelling on business (which was expensive, but convenient), but i dont't really want to leave home from Devon at 2.00 am in the morning with teenage DC's and grumpy DH just to get there in time to check in for a 10.00 am flight.

So.... we've decided to stay overnight the night before but we'd like to stay somewhere where we can leave the car for a couple of weeks or so that doesn't require us to sell a kidney to pay for it.

Any ideas??

The last few times we have flown from Gatwick we have used holiday extras who are at the north side of the airport (should be google maps link).

They are pretty good and we have not had any problems, although they are probably not the absolute cheapest.

We tend to stay at the Gatwick Hilton as it's joined directly to the south terminal - which means 2 weeks parking was about £150 ish.

I've just booked a triple room with 1 week parking in March for £71 at the Holiday Inn. This was also with Holiday Extras who I've used a couple of times before.

I always go for parking at the hotel as I don't fancy finding the car park at 4.00am if it's at another location.

we stayed here at The Cambridge Hotel the night before our flight from Gatwick. We parked for two weeks. Cannot remember how much it cost, but it was reasonable. Breakfast wasn't included and we paid extra £10 per adult and £5 each for the boys and it was very nice. I am glad we did get the breakfast as the queues at Gatwick were horrendous and there would not have been time to do anything else even though we were there well before our allotted time and had checked in on line the day before our flight. It was bloody chaos with people trying to literally queue jump and rows going on with people pushing in. The hotel have a drop of and pick up service included in the price.

The Sofitel is excellent and good deals with car park, I booked through www.gatwickreservations.com/

Sofitel did a better rate for us when we rang direct & you can walk into the airport

Drayford · 08/02/2010 21:18

I was thinking along that line AtirrhinumMajus - I usually check out the reservation/cheap booking sites, get their rates then phone direct and haggle sweetly and politely!

It's a bit of a hangover from my days organising corporate travel and conferences and hardly ever fails to get a better price for me!!!!!

I was just looking for some actual experience of the gatwick hotels before I booked. I was actually thinking that the Sofitel looked good......
