Flying to NZ with 17 mo on Cathay Pacific, any tips?

Hi, I am flying out to NZ on my own next week with my DS who is 17 months old. We have requested a bulk head seat, but have not booked a separate seat due to cost (sadly). Does anyone have any tips or experience (especially re sleeping arrangements - bassinet/lap/floor?). We have 3 hours in transit in Hong Kong. Thanks!

I used a cot attached to the bulk head when daughter was 3 months old, and it was very good. Might still be poss for you to request this?

For yourself, get music and material onto your IPOD. Its such a long flight. For baby, as many favourite and new books and little amusements as you can take on board.

Sorry this might be too late anyway. Good luck.

I have just checked with the airline & he is too tall to fit into the cot, so will be either sleeping on me, or the floor if they allow it.

Thanks & I'll check out the travel tips section.

Cathay are great! They allowed our 3 year old ds to sleep on the floor. I don't think you need an ipod etc as they have lots of films to watch/music to listen to. We flew to Taiwan and didn't get bored. Probably there'll be stuff that your kid can watch/listen to/play to.

Enjoy!
