no sorry!Maybe it's just my clapped out P.C.

nancy75 · 27/01/2010 20:53

can't open link but i guess your question is because of the earthquake?
personally i would go, i know it sounds heartless with so much suffering going on so close by, however i would imagine (i might be wrong) that dominican republic is very very reliant on tourism for jobs and bringing money into the country. if people stop going there on holiday long tem it will probably ruin their economy.

nappyaddict · 28/01/2010 00:32

Also sounding a bit heartless but I guess I'm worried it will ruin the holiday and there probably won't be much to do and I don't know if I could cope with looking at the disaster it has caused.

I remember Mexico and the swim flu epidemic which stopped many visitors from going and the hardship that followed for the locals. The Dom Rep hotels and the staff they employ rely on tourism. Please read the link dominicanembassy.org.uk

It is deeply sad situation, but you asked a question (WWYD) as you have already booked I would go. Consider making a small donation to www.dec.org.uk before you go.
