Can anyone recommend accommodation for 2 adults and 3 kids - 10,12, 14 that's not too expensive in March please.

I have been to Holiday Inn PHuket pre kids but I know they had interconnecting rooms and the place was fabulous...over the road from teh beach and right in the town centre so easy to get to restaurants or anything you needed.

Have a look at asiarooms.com and see what you fancy. There is such a wide range of hotels and guest houses and such a wide range of beaches and general areas.
I would recommend that you consider hiring a car. The Phuket taxi mafia are notorious.

Have a look at asia rooms dot com and see what they come up with. There are so many different areas of Phuket it is hard to recommend just one. A top tip from someone who went there a couple of times a month (me) is to hire a car to collect at the airport. The taxi mafia are infamous.

I've been looking into the exact same thing for October although my 3 DCs are much younger than yours.

Trailfinders have a deal on the Amari Coral Beach hotel (Patong) whereby you get a 2nd room for up to 3 children free. However, they can't guarantee that they'll be interconnecting. I'd guess that this offer must be available through other agents as well.
They also recommended the Chedi (which I'd assumed to be very pricey) as there are fantastic deals on their 2 bed villas which sleep up to 5.
The problem I've found is that most of the family suites e.g. Holiday Inn, will only sleep a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.

Have you checked out club med? The do (or at least did) brilliant all inclusive packages.
Personally I would avoid Patong and go for somewhere like Kata. Patong is beer bars and bar girls and transvestites.
