South of France without the kids!

Dh and I both hit 40 this year and to celebrate we'd love to do a south of France trip, hitting as much of the glamour and loveliness as we can muster. I'm thinking Saint Tropez, Nice, Monaco. Does anyone have any top tips they could share to help us get plans underway? We're thinking of going in May and my sister is bravely looking after the kids, so we want to make the most of the opportunity . Thanks!

How long are you going for, and do you have a budget?

You could also go to Aix-en-Provence if you have the time; it's really beautiful.

i would choose one lovely village on the coast and just spend 5 days doing cafes and swimming and vigorous sex

I would stay in Nice. They have some lovely boutique hotels there. It is easy to get the train up and down the coast, so you could get to Monaco, Villefranche sur Mer, Antibes, Juan Les Pins, Cannes etc. Lots to see in Nice itself of course. Art galleries, the old town, strolling along the Promenade des Anglais. St Tropez is quite some distance away, and you'd need a car. There is nothing there really that you wouldn't find in the other towns I already mentioned. I would invest in the Time Out guide to Provence and the Cote D'Azur.

And this place is fab, with an excellent location.

Thanks, I'll look into it
