We have a 4 and 1 year old and are thinking of taking a car to France (from London) for a 4,5 days during holidays in April. We've only been to Paris and South of France before (without children) and would appreciate any recommendations of places to visit, stay, eat, ferry to take etc. Thanks in advance!

Honfleur (on the north coast across the bridge from Le Havre) is lovely. You can't go far wrong with Brittany either.

Agree re Honfleur. Normandy Barriere hotel is lovely.

Or Lille? But perhaps too dull for young children.

thank you both very much! How did you travel to Honfleur?

Eurotunnel to Calais and then it's about a 2 and a 1/2 hour drive.

We do the Portsmouth/Le Havre crossing but that's because we're coming from Up North and it's quicker for us to get to Portsmouth than Dover
We've done the Newhaven/Dieppe crossings recently as well. Dieppe is also very pretty but we only drove through and didn't get chance to stop and walk around
