Dubai in March or April? Week or fortnight??

Hi
We have the chance to go to Dubai to visit friends in March / April this year. It looks pretty boiling hot on the weather charts by April but they assure us it is ok, and not too hot then. I don't want to drag DD (3.2) and DS (7 mo) all the way there on the plane if we can't then take them to the beach.I mean, most days! Anyone know about the weather 'on the ground' and from a parent-of-tinies point of view in those months?

Also I don't know how much there is to do (friends who live there don't have kids) as a family. Is it somewhere we could spend a fortnight or are we going to be bored after a week? I am aware that travelling anywhere with kids and settling them in a new place means longer hols are usually better than short...

advice welcome please!

Personally speaking only I'd go somewhere else that is less hot. It is averaging 88 degrees centigrade there in April.

Also there have been past press reports of polluted beaches in Dubai due to untreated sewage being dumped into the sea.

It wouldn't be too hot for me or my DC but then we are used to the heat as we live in the Middle East.
I wouldn't however do 14 days, I'd do about 10 however if you are staying with friends you may want the extra time.
We went to Dubai just over a month ago and the beaches were fine but we were at Jumeriah beach so if there was anything nasty no doubt they'd have been out pretty early cleaning the beaches.

Why don't you post on 'living overseas', there are loads of ladies there who live in Dubai

Hi, i live in dubai and it will start getting warmer about april...now its just nice 25 degree and managable....

If you go to the beach parks they all offer shade so you will be able to keep the children out of the harsh sun...in my year living here i have not seen any sewage on the touristy beaches, in fact most beaches are very clean and safe.

As for things to do, there are lots...it all depends of what you like doing! Although that said i wouldnt come for a whole 2 weeks, the heat and sun would be too much and you would look to spead most of your time indoors.

Check out the entertainer books if you do decide to come over, its a huge book of buy one get one free on almost anything...trips, resturants...etc etc

I also live in Dubai, and I would say the weather is still nice and bearable in March/beginning of April; towards mid-late April it can be too hot in the midday sun, but nice in the morning and afternoon.

I have lived here for 2 years now and actually find the weather at the moment a bit on the cold side.

sits shivvering in jumper
