Help with somewhere to stay in Italy

I am going google eyed with the number of places I have looked at. DH and out 2 DCs (2 and 4) want to go to Italy for a week in June. We want to be no more than 1.5 hours from the nearest airport. We were originally looking at Lake Garda but are not that fussy. We ideally want a villa or apartment with a few other properties on site so the DCs have friends potential, a pool for the DCs and a play area for them. I was looking 'at a place in Umbria' but the nearest airport is Ancona which isnt seved by Gatwick. I dont fancy anything too big like a camp site. Thanks

Campiglioni.it

I have been there for the past 2 years and am going again this year.

It is beautiful, really good for the kids - we have lovely polish friends and swedish friends and last year we met some new friends who halfway through the holiday told us that they had been recommended to visit on Mumsnet - and I was the person who had recommended it!!

The people that own it are wonderful, the pool is salt water so is really good for the kids skin, it is uber clean (as I have clean issues and have left places after a night if I did not think they were clean enough), you can visit Sienna, Florence and a few other places by either car or train.

There is nothing I can say about it that is negative.

We flew to Bologna once and to Fiorli another time from Stanstead on Ryanair but I think you can get to Bologna from Gatwick.

Just one question. How long does it take to drive from bologna to the property?

It's about 1.5 hours I think but it is main road most of the way - none of the scary mountain rund like you have to do in the south of the country!

If you CAT me I will tell you my name etc and you should be able to get a bit of a discount if you go on about me being your friend!

I really cannot rate it high enough - we have made some lovely friends and the kids have always had someone to play with be it kids who can speak english or not.

We've stayed at Palazzo Belvedere, Lake Garda and it was lovely and very comfortable. They have a beautiful infinity pool and a separate toddlers pool next to it where our 18mth old enjoyed playing with the other toddlers there. I can't remember there being a play area though unfortunately.

We booked it through Owners Syndicate and flew in and out of Verona which was about an hr away, Bergamo is the same distance in the other direction.

Amalfi coast is beautiful BTW but I loved Italy.
