And another Italy question!

Can anyone recommend an area/villa/hotel within striking distance of Pompeii but not necessarily Naples/Sorrento/other expensive Amalfi areas?
DCs would like to see Pompeii (so would I) but I'm not sure I want to stay in a hyper-touristy area.

We stayed in Amalfi area but I would surgest going to Hurcalanium as well I enjoyed there more and was less touristy.

Hercalanium is like Pompei but smaller

I found a great looking place near there, but it is on my work PC. I will have a look tomorrow. Pompei is fantastic. It freaked me out with how well "modern" it was. Hard to explain until you see it. I want to take dd there when she is bigger.

We went up Vesuvius on the bus, but be warned - you still need to walk about 1km up a steep hill to get to the summit. (if you get tempted )
