Has anyone been to the national coal mining museum in Yorkshire if so what is it like? I have a 7yr old who wants to go down mine but also 3 others with me under 5 - is there anything for them there?

Hiya, yes there is a lovely little area where smaller children can play and dress up while older ones go down the mine. You can't leave them unattended, though.
Make sure you take a couple of shiny 1p pieces too, as they have a machine that squashes them flat and prints the museum logo on - a fab keepsake!

Yes, I have been as an adult with and without children over and under 5. Always an interesting day out (and very close to me), especially if the train is running (it's very short, but U5s will love it).

if your 7 yo wants to go down the mine you will need another adult with you - one to supervise the younger ones and one to go down the mine. We went a couple of years ago, and my DC (7 & 5 at the time) loved it.
