Not been myself but my parents have been here several times and speak highly of it. No idea about kid-friendly-ness though.

It depends how much you want to spend really.

I've stayed at Dreams Vacation/Dreams Beach through Thomson and it was lovely! They're 2 hotels on the same complex, all inclusive and have both kids clubs and kids pools!

TequilaMockinBird · 08/01/2010 17:14

Posted too quick!

Dreams is good value for money (or at least it was in 2006 when I went!). I paid just over £1100 for 3 of us staying for 2 weeks in May. Well worth the money!

We stayed at The Hyatt Regency and had a fabulous time. Not all inclusive but grat hotel with lovely kids club-first my DD has agreed to use.....not cheap though I am afraid but we felt worth every penny.

thanks ladies..I am looking to spend around 1500-2000 2 adults and one child ..looking at 5 star all inclusive as I have heard the stars are overrated..i.e a 5 star is 4 star

I have the thomson brochure tequilla...can you walk anywhere fro hotel? is it safe nice area etc?

Yes the hotel is right in between Sharm old town and Naama Bay (sp?). It's a massive complex though and even has its own beach and coral reef.

We never had any problems with safety etc when walking around but you do have to be prepared for the constant nagging of locals trying to get you to go into their shops and buy things!

We didnt walk all that far tbh as it was too hot! Taxi's to the shop in either old Sharm or Naama were pennies though iirc

bishboschone · 08/01/2010 19:10

that sounds great tequila...i am checking out thomson now thank you

Good luck! If you do end up going, I'd recommend the Cairo trip - it's amazing seeing the pyramids and Tutankhamun's tomb...although Cairo itself is a dump!

bishboschone · 08/01/2010 19:18

its around £1500 in may..would you say it was worth that..they hotels all look so shiny in egypt

TequilaMockinBird · 08/01/2010 19:21

Personally I would say it was yes, although if you ring around some local travel agents you will get it cheaper - keep asking them all to beat each others quote . I can usually knock a couple of hundred off doing that!

What I will say though is that you have to remember that Egypt is, in the main, quite a poor country. So what they say is a 5star hotel, usually isnt what we would class a 5 star hotel! That said, when we went in 2006 we had a fabulous time there, the hotel was clean, the staff were fantastic (and love kids!), the food was nice (although a bit monotanous after 2 weeks - but then you will get that in any All Inclusive)

If I could afford it, I go back again this year!

TequilaMockinBird · 08/01/2010 19:22

I would go back again this year

bishboschone · 08/01/2010 19:22

thanks tequilla I heard that about the ratings which is why I want a 5 star so it should be around 4 star standard. .I can only face a week in those temperatures so not too much worry over food..

There are some beautiful hotels in Sharm, unfortunatley though as it is 4/5 years since I was there, I cant remember the names!

TequilaMockinBird · 08/01/2010 20:03

or even 3/4 years
