Short Break Car-Seat Advice

My husband, DS and I are planning to go to a friend's wedding in Ireland when DS will be 15 months old. We will only be there for one night and will probably take cabs to get around.

Any advice on what we should do about a car-seat? The one we use at home is far too heavy to take with us, especially for such a short time and for probably just 4-6 car journeys.

Thanks!

Technically speaking, as you'll be travelling in cabs, you don't have to use a carseat.

Up to you whether you feel safe doing this (and some cab drivers may be funny too) but it counts as a "short, infrequent journey" and therefore not a legal requirement for a carseat. (IE you're not doing this every morning in your own vehicle on the school run)

Baby must be sitting on your lap (or DP's/DH's). You must wear your seatbelt and baby sits outside of the seatbelt. You must be sitting in the back seat.

If you don't like the idea of going without a carseat, check the area you're staying in for rentals that may be available, or contact cab companies to see whether they can supply a carseat suitable for your child and their vehicle when they pick you up.
