Hello all,

I'm expecting my first baby in May and we are going on a family holiday to the Algarve in mid August. I am totally bewildered with what to take in terms of do i need a carrycot? a car seat (probably won't drive around that much to be honest) or what would you recommend?

Where will baby want to be placed in the daytime in the shade? in a carrycot, or something else? I'm taking a travel cot for them to sleep in, and hopefully taking baby in a sling or baby carrier and carrying them in my lap on the plane but I really don't know what else to take. i'm thinking of how to manage to take them for walks out so that they are in the shade?

Any advice greatly appreciated,

thanks
Clare

  • boobs
  • proper pram with carrycot may do for night sleeping and walking if they are small and pram is big. If not you will need a pram/pushchair that lies flat for walks and a travel cot for nights
  • shade device will depend on pram type - we had a carrycot type with a hood and did well with a large muslin draped over the whole thing. A pushchair will need a Protect-a-bub or similar.
  • def sling - carry a parasol or umbrella to keep them shaded as hats are a nigthmare
  • towel or blanket or similar for them to roll about on

parasol

sorry, 'roll about on under a parasol by the pool'

maybe one of those bouncy chairs made of cotton fabric on a wire frame might come in useful so the baby can sit outside in the shade and see everyone.

like this

I'm sure they would pack very easily as they are lightweight.
My babies have always loved sitting in these type of chairs.
