Thoughts on Cyprus needed

OK, so it's freezing outside, DH goes back to work tomorrow and we've had dreadful weather on our last 3 holidays (Spain, France and Cornwall). So we're looking for some sun this year and thought we might try Cyprus, but I don't really know much about the island.

We have 3 girls - DD1 will be 7 in July and DTs will be 5 in March. We like to be near the beach, some activities, local restaurants etc, but preferably no mad clubs and we prefer to be in smaller, less commercialised resorts. Can anyone recommend anywhere in Cyprus (or anywhere else for that matter )?

TIA

i would recommend paphos, or coral bay if you are considering cyprus -- both areas are beachy, with nice places to eat, walk around and relax.

Generally though, IMO I'm not a big fan of cyprus as everything is very expensive and geared to ripping the brits off. With the euro so strong at the moment have you thought about going out of the euro-zone, try somewhere like Egypt (sharm)? Its much better value for money, guaranteed sunshine plus if you go to a hotel resort you will have a better beach right on your door step plus lots of snokelling -- sure to keep your girls busy for hours

Have been to Cyprus 4 times and agree with Lady on Coral Bay, the waves are fantastic there.

Cyprus is a bit of a strange one. You'll love it or hate it. I love it. There's something charming about it.

It is very expensive. See if there's any all-inclusive? Also, it is very very hot in the summer months, I was there in a heatwave and it was 48c, even night time is hot. So the earlier the better around maybe April might be better than in summer.

Pissouri Beach resort is lovely. It's in Pissouri!

Cyprus is lovely, expensive...but isnt everywhere at the moment. It's small enough to get around, they drive on the same side as the UK, they adore children. All the hotels are of excellent quality and there are many AI one's. Beaches all fab and food really delicious - gets my vote everytime

Thanks for your thoughts everyone- sorry I haven't been back to the thread sooner. Have looked into it further and think it might have to wait for another year - indeed I doubt we'll be going further afield than Norfolk and that's if we manage a holiday at all this year .

Never mind...it was a nice thought while it lasted, and maybe the exchange rate will be more in our favour when we do manage it .
