Bewildered by the choice - easy child friendly holiday in May

Hi,

Looking for a very easy beach holiday in May with DS (2.5), DH, me and my 7 month pregnant bump. DH and I have never done any kind of resort type holiday before, always self catering, but for once we thought we might try something that was all inclusive (or at least had restaurants close at hand) and hassle free. We'd prefer short haul and preferably with some kind of kids club that we could at least have one or two mornings where our DS could be entertained.

Trouble is, I'm a bit bewildered by all of the choices. I don't know whether to try one of the big names like Mark Warner or Club Med, or look for something more off the beaten track. I don't think I'll cope too well with having to queue for stuff on the resort or having to get up early to reserve a sun lounger but I don't know if automatically big resorts will have those problems. I just want to be relaxed, with good food, warm weather and nice clean accommodation.

I know this all sounds a bit general, but if people either have places to recommend or places to avoid, I'd really appreciate it!

Well I have been to Turkey with our children each year since our oldest was tiny. We go to a self catering apartment as we don't like the idea of queuing for food, reserving sun loungers etc either and we like apartments as there is more room for the children plus a fridge and basic cooking facilities should we decide to have lunch in or something.

"I just want to be relaxed, with good food, warm weather and nice clean accommodation" - you would certainly get all of this in Turkey. We normally go to Gumbet near to Bodrum, it is lovely there, a nice beach, good weather (just perfect in May), lots of good restaurants and very child friendly.

Simply Travel to Mousses (on Lefkada) or Crete where they have their own Creche are absolutely fantastic but are still self-catering.

If you want all-inclusive or close to i'd recommend Sunsail or Neilson. In May its warm enough but its not as busy as in school holidays (avoid May half-term - which you will anyway as the price rockets) and theres v. little queuing up for food etc. and definitely no need to reserve a lounger etc. We have done Sunsail in in Greece in the past for the last two weeks of May with a 2.5yo and it was fab.
