Exciting place to overnight or spend a couple of days in Central France in August?

Yay - its holiday planning - has anyone any recommendations for me please? - we are driving down from Calais to the Dordogne in August and want to do something part way down to break the journey up.

Obviously, Disneyland Paris would be the obvious choice, but in late August? it would be hot and busy surely?

Any ideas please girls? I don't want to camp as we aren't camping when we get there so we don't have room for camping stuff?

Thank you

Futuroscope? May be a little near to your destination, though.

I was going to say Futuroscope as well Lily. There's loads around Poitiers OP

Oh thanks ladies - I didn't see these responses - I'll investigate. I thought about Amboise, and going to see some chateaux and apparently a loire valley in miniature type park, which might be fun.

Will have a look at your suggestions, thank you.
