Tent on a gravel pitch at sandyballs, can that work?

I was going to book a week's camping at Sandy Balls at the end of August, they only have gravel pitches left and say you can camp on them.

Has anyone done this? It sounds jolly uncomfortable to me.

Have you been there before? It's not that great IMO (but it has been a while since i was there)

I wouldn't want to camp on a gravel pitch - even if it was OK, you'd end up traipsing it into the tent all the time.

That is what I thought.

No we haven't been but friends have and said they enoyed it.

We usually camp in a field with a tap but we have 2 guests so wanted to ease them in.

There are loads of sites in that area that are good though, plenty of places with a swimming pool and electric hook-ups

Wastwinsetandpearls · 01/01/2010 20:34

I am not really interested in an electric hook up. It was more the pool and on site activities.

Can you recommend somewhere else?

I was kidding about the hook-up

I will have a think and come back to you

Wastwinsetandpearls · 01/01/2010 20:36

Oh sorry, I did see they had hook ups so thought you were being serious.

Thanks,

sorry, twisted humour.

My parents used to camp but for years insisted on a hook-up so that Mum could use her hair-dryer and Dad could take a proper fridge

was interesting to say the least

I am such a vain cow in normal life, I love being able to forget the hair straighteners and make up.

sorry, can't remember the name of the site and can't find it on tinterweb - will ask the parental units on Sunday.

In the meantime though...
