Trying to find a lovely family holiday in school holidays but not finding much that I like to meet my budget. Dominican republic is looking good value but is this going to be a false economy if it is likely to
suffer with tropical storms. How bad could it get over 2 weeks? would the rest of the Caribbean and Mexico be the same?

Really looking at AI 2 weeks for 2 adults 4 children. budget maximum 7k 4/5*

We have been to the Carribean in August 4 times now. It is much cheaper to go then as you may hit bad weather during their rainy season. We have had one hurricane and one tropical storm in those 4 holidays but both came and went very quickly and the rest of the holiday was superb. Admittedly the children were a little spooked when they boarded up our hotel for the hurricane! But it was over in 24 hours and the sky was blue again. The beginning of August seems more settled for weather than the end. We have been 3 times to Barbados and last year to St Lucia and have had lovely family holidys.

Thanks for the response you have given me confidence that the whole 2 weeks wont be sitting inside doing crosswords.
