Sydney accommodation recommendations?

We (me, DH and 4 year old DD) are going to Sydney at the end of March/beginning of April and looking for somewhere to stay. I think an apartment would be ideal but I'm struggling a bit for recommendations. We're looking at 7 nights in Sydney before we go off (to the Blue Mountains, then Melbourne, ending up in Sale for BIL's wedding ). Budget is around £1000 for something decent, don't necessarily need to be central but somewhere that's easy to get into the central area would be ace.

We're probably going to go into Trailfinders on Wednesday but personal recommendations/places to avoid would be invaluable!

TIA

We used to live in Sydney and when we first moved out there we stayed in the York Apartments until we got settled. It is very central with an easy walk to both Darling Harbour and Circular Quay where you can get the ferry to many other places. I just tried to google for you - www.theyorkapartments.com.au but couldn't get into the website - hopefully just a temporary thing. They are nice apartments with everything you will need and serviced daily. Sounds like a great trip. Enjoy!

We went to Australia last summer, and stayed here for 4 mights. They are very central (about 200 yards away from the Rocks/Circular Quay) and I seem to remember that they were quite reasonable. We had a two bedroom apartment with a lounge and kitchenette. There was also a washing machine in the bathroom, which was really useful.
