Gatwick Express from Victoria - affected by weather?

We have a cab booked for 7.30am wednesday morning to get us to Gatwick but we're thinking that we might be better off with the Gatwick Express. I'm a tad concerned though as it's an overground train I believe so it might be affected by the weather too. Any advice/knowledge gratefully received.

TIA

Tuesday is the real problem. You should be okay actually - the roads will have been gritted Tuesday night and as long as it doesn't snow again you have equal chance on road and rail (trains don't run in deep snow either). However I would point out that presumably you are hoping to catch a plane when you get there and they might have a weather related issue too so check before you set out on Weds.

i would stick with the cab, most cab drivers do airport runs quite frequently and will know a few routes to avoid the worst roads. once you are on the train if anything goes wrong you are stuck on the train.

thanks for the replies and good thought that Nancy, we do use a good cab man who will know better than us whether we'll get there okay or not. I'm being positive about the flights whomovedmychocolate - Thankfully gatwick is now a smoke free zone with a semi decent coffee shop and some nice clothes shops too to keep me going.
