We are trying to meet up with a mixed group of friends, (most with young children/babies, but some without), on a Saturday in Jan. Bedford is a central point for everyone, so I am looking for somewhere with plenty of space/play potential for the children and food/drink/seating for grown-ups that is bookable or not too busy on a Sat, any suggestions oh wise MNetters?!

Hi there, I live in Bedford and have two small boys (3 and 8 months).

Bedford has the usual chain restaurants, like Beefeater, Frankie and Bennys, Harvester etc which are all used to small kids.

If you fancy something a bit nicer, there are some really good pubs a bit out of town which do good food, but there is probably less space for kids to run around. I can suggest a few if you like.

The Beefeater is next to a lake which you can walk around and it has a outdoor kids play area (although it might be a bit chilly)!

Let me know if I can help any more.

Hello, we're in Bedford too and have 2yo twins. Agree about the Beefeater at Priory Marina. Feed them up then turn them loose! Pizza Express in town are also very forgiving of small people, and if you can brave the cold they've got quite a nice (and safe ) terrace out the back.
