Hyde Park Winter Wonderland - any good?

9 yr-old DD and 6-yr-old DS have day off school this Friday - is it worth going into London for the day to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland? We'd have to leave before dark so they'd miss the lovely lights etc. but it still looks good on the website. Any tips/advice appreciated!

There was a post on here yesterday I think about someone who had been in the last day or so and found it excellent. I would search for you but have to work in a moment.

I went last year with my two grown-up DDs and found it very magical on a cold frosty day, looking round the little German market with its log cabins, watching the ice-skaters, etc. We enjoyed the big (very slow, marvellous views) wheel, too! I wasn't sure last year it would be great for people with small children but apparently this year it is better and at 9 and 5 it should be lovely.

Oh and if you want to go ice-skating I believe it is essential to book a session before you go as they fill up quickly (can do so online.)

'It was brilliant' Have fun - wish I were going again but we are doing the Oxford Christmas Market this year.
