Help! South Africa visa problem

My friend is going to South Africa tonight for a long holiday, with her BF. It's a big trip, she's been really excited, been saving and looking forward to it for ages.

She's a Polish national, and had heard that Europeans get an automatic 90 day tourist visa. However she's just found out today that they make an exception for Polish people; she'll only get a 30 day visa. They had planned to stay for longer. What should she do? There isn't time to apply for a visa before she goes, and it looks like she can't apply for one once she's there (is that right?)

Is there any way she can extend her trip beyond 30 days? I've heard of people (in other countries) extending holiday visas by leaving the country and then simply coming back in again and getting another 30 days. Would this work in SA? Is this a legit way to do things or would the authorities take a dim view? She doesn't want to do anything that would upset the authorities in any way.

If anyone has any idea we'd be very grateful.

TIA

It's possible that she'd be able to get back in and reset the 30-day clock by exiting and re-entering, but best to check as countries aren't always very impressed with this kind of thing. There are some links to contact details in here
