AIBU to worry about Sharm El Sheikh as a holiday destination

The precautionary warnings on the Foreign Office website are as long as your arm so I think 1) it's not entirely safe and 2) they seem to have gone a bit bonkers about swine flu there (marching people with hot foreheads off planes and putting them in quarantine). I don't want to be worrying about a holiday months in advance and I don't want our five year old picking up on me either.
But DH says it's hot and cheap, millions go every year, and it's all we can afford for next half-term. Opinions please.

We just got back from Sharm. We had a fabulous time but it so nearly could have been different. It was recommended by a good friend so we didn't do our own research and had no idea about the quarantine... our daughter developed a temp on the plane but thankfully she passed the touch-test by the doctor at the airport, mainly as she was uncooperative, is 3, and it was the middle of the night. I've heard some awful stories about the quarantine!
Just pack calpol in your carry-on.
We had a brilliant time - excellent hotel, gorgeous weather (we went just after HT) and I'll return once I get over the quarantine horror stories my mum showed me when we got back, that so nearly could have been us...

we went to sharm in late sept, having been pre dc. didn;t notice any swine flu stuff tbh, except the paper u fill in on the plane. downside, the signs make you think you need a visa to enter, to buy on arrival, you don't, unless you plan to dive in the protected marine park. also check with where you stay as the all day long very loud disco music played on the beaches from 9.00am til midnight can be very wearing..
