Night away in nice hotel with dcs

DH has a big birthday in early December. I'd like to take him away for a night in a nice hotel. Money is really tight so I am looking for something with a bit of luxury - country hotel, pool / spa and a nice restaurant for as little as possible. It's not quite a romantic weekend as we'll have dcs aged 11 and 3 in tow and need somewhere with a decent family room.

Anyone know of any hotel groups running offers or anywhere I might get a good deal?

Would want to travel up to 1.5 hours from Woking.

Anyone have any ideas? I've done a ton of google searches but I either find beautiful places that cost a fortune - over a £1000 for a night - or more realistically priced hotels that just don't look quite right.

I went to the Cotswold Water Park Hotel with my DH. We didn't take our kids but there were people with kids there. It wasn't a 'country hotel' but it was very nice and in countryside.

I would take my kids if I could afford it!

I've got no idea what this place is liked but searched and it came up and is more local to you:

My thread on the same topic a while back. Still haven't decided yet though.

Or another thread here.

Thanks very much for your replies. Had to postpone trip due to dh back trouble. The Cotswold Water Parks sounds good for the future.
