Kids will be 7 and 9 next summer - we love Mousses and have been twice - but Periyali sounds a gorgeous locaation - but worried kids will be a bit too old to find other friends and do the morning kids club - anyone advise me??

Hi

We went to Periyali 2 years ago - albeit with a 2.5 year old so obviously looking at it from a different perspective. However, there were older children there who seemed to pal up and enjoy it. I would have thought it would be fine, but, as I say I didn't hae the same age children !

It is a gorgeous place though - we loved it. The one thing I would say though is, we had a letter through from Simpson asking our opinions on a new place they were hoping to take an option on in Turkey. Within this letter it said something along the lines of 'we know some of you haven't been happy with the condition of Periyali and we're working to improve this'. Its been 2 years since we went and at that time the only problem we had was that we were in a two storey villa (which have one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs) and there was no aircon to the upstairs room making it unuseable in August. Luckily they had provided a cot and dd was happy to sleep in it so we all bunked up in the downstairs room !

I don't know if anything else has occurred since then - might be worth asking.

Funnily enough I came to browse through 'shorthaul' to look for up to date info on Mousses as I am in the process of booking for next year !!

i love mousses - and can take the relative discomforts (beds not great and it'snot luxurious) in exchange for great kids club, lovely pool and great atmosphere -

thanks for response - and the turkey thing I will look into too.

Mine will be 7 & 4 next summer and I think they're too old for Simply also, i think they need more in the way of watersports and activities iyswim? I'm sad though cos we loved Simply. Also went to Periyali but wasn't that happy with it either, water a weird colour, beaches busy and not so great. Crete was a much more interesting island in our opinion, and much better food also.

We tried Turkey with Crystal Active at Tamarisk Apts (ex. Simply location) last summer and it was fantastic for the kids , the Clubs were great, but it was the last week of Aug and WAY TOO HOT - mid-40's every day (this was near Bodrum) Even though we had excellent aircon it was just too hot to do anything. And Crystal are no more.
