We're thinking of going to Lapland in December for a few nights, We're looking at Magic of Lapland for 2 nights and 3 days or Canterbury Travel for 3 nights/4 days, it will be me, Dh, DS ( 4.7) and my mother and father in law whose idea it is and are financing!

I've been asked to research and don;t want to pick somewhere thats a disaster!

Can anyone help? Is 2 nights enough? my father in law doesn't seem to think so! but I love christmas in London and don't really want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere for the festive season, even though am very grateful and excited for the opportunity!

We're thinking of doing Lapland soon too, so please let me know what you decide.

I have done two nights and three nights - we didn't do anything extra on the longer trip it was just a bit more relaxed. (kids are too different in ages).

Couple of things to look out for there are two specialist companies that do these trips Canterbury travel and emagine, everybody else is usually just acting as agents for one of these two companies. Of the two Canterbury used a higher spec hotel, emagine seemed better at thinking of the little things that could just improve the holiday.

I would question whether or not 4.7 is too young, on our first trip DC1 & 2 were 7 and 5 and I just felt that DC2 because of the weather (very cold that year) and the rush (this was the two night trip) was so tired by the end that he stopped enjoying it near the end. For DC3 we waited until he was 6, took the longer trip and that seemed much better.

Whatever you decide it is a fantastic trip - you will love it.
