Toddler-friendly stuff to do (and place to stay) near Melton Mowbray?

We may be taking the DC (2.7 and 5mo) to Melton to visit family soon. Just wondering if anyone could recommend stuff to do around there with them? Considering the Space Centre or Twinlakes, has anyone been?

Also would be great if anyone could recommend child-friendly accommodation...

I have heard from a family member that twinlakes is great for little kids, im planning a trip there soon, have you checked out there website?

I've been to Twin Lakes, DS did enjoy it (he's 2.5) but I thought it was a bit overpriced. There's plenty to do but it is a bit rough-around-the-edges in places.

Thanks, had a look at the website. We don't mind a bit of rough (DH grew up on trips to Great Yarmouth pleasure beach!) as long as there's plenty to wear out DS1!
