Where to go with a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old? Abroad or somewhere like Center Parcs?

Only been to Elvedon and hated it. Boss has been going to Longleat for last 8 years and raves about it.

hmmm....

corsica or center parcs....

hmmmm...

hold on, let me think about it for a minute...

Enid · 08/06/2005 21:32

ARE YOU MAD!!!!!!!!!!

galaxy · 08/06/2005 21:33

We went in peak time as I have a 12 year old. I found the accomodation shabby, the staff surly, the activities overpriced and badly organised. With the exceptionof the La Sappiniere (more expensive) restaraunt, the others were appalling.

BUT

I have to admit to being a bit of a snob and for me it wasn't my sort of place.

Longleat, my boss says, it smaller and much more friendly and stylish

are you going alone? (no dp/dh)?

jessicasmummy · 08/06/2005 21:39

Go to Butlins.... much more to do, and you are within walking distance of resteraunts etc if u dont want ot eat on site.

Enid · 08/06/2005 21:39

do you manage them OK here?

galaxy · 08/06/2005 21:39

f you're a snob, then don't go to Center Parcs. Ask yourself if you'd go to Butlins. Not much difference imo!!

We are contemplating booking a cottage in Yorkshire for our August Holiday. Only coz we're skint!

galaxy · 08/06/2005 21:40

oops - no offence Jessica'smummy

well........obv I dont 'know' you but I would say that unless you trying flying with them you'll never know...

also corsicans very very relaxed and friendly, lovely food, gorgeous scenery

if you cope with kids here OK then you'll cope there.

good luck! x e

I have flown with 2 under 5 at least 5 times, it wasn't that bad. Maybe it depends on your kids... many threads on this before. I do let mine walk up & down the aisles a bit, which I've heard other MNetters rate as absolutely unacceptable. (I don't see the problem) But for short-haul especially, I really don't think flying with 2 at that age is so bad.

Don't you have to pay for every little extra thing at C-Pks?

OK dd was just under 2 when we went and tbh, I didn't think there was enough for her to do . Not impressed with creche. Personally, if I was in your shoes, and I don't know how far along the autistic spectrum your dd is, but she may find it too overwhelming. Very busy in the public areas.

galaxy · 08/06/2005 21:45

MY memories of Butlins are about 20 years ago as a teen and I would say it was similar to centre parcs. Go to Corsica

jessicasmummy · 08/06/2005 21:45

i lvoed it but we didnt have dd then, but the kids all seemed so happy. it realyl felt like a proper family place.

I just got back from Mallorca (Puerto Pollensa) with a 3yo and a 18mo, It was fantastic, we bought a seat for the 18mo, and put his car seat in it as he's such a wriggler. By the time we'd taken off, had food, drinks etc there was only about 45 mins to kill before we landed. The resort is extremely child friendly with gentle shelved sandy beaches and clear blue sea. Everybody we met with similar aged children goes for a week in May and another in September when it's cheap and the weather is still good.

hatstand · 09/06/2005 21:45

flying's really not that bad. we've flown tons and tons with 2, and took dd1 to Oz when I was 5 months pregnant

2kidsandahubby · 09/06/2005 21:53

OMG I hope CP isn't all that bad - we are going to Sherwood at the end of the month...

cas73 · 13/06/2005 15:53

As long as the adult/children ratio is 1:1 at this age, I don't mind flying. We are actually flying to Puerto Pollensa with a 2.5 year old and a 16 month old soon. And the flight to Corsica is not that long. I'm sure you'll be fine!!
