Hotel PortAventura. Costa Dorada

Hi all, Well, we're still undecided about where to go on holiday...

The above hotel is the latest idea, right next to the theme park which I think used to be Universal Studios.

Just wondered if anyone had been and if so:

What's it like, clean etc?
Is the food any good? it's half board
Is it far to the beach? Would we need taxis, bus etc or can we walk?
Is the beach nice?
Is it close to any shops etc?
Are the pools nice?

We stayed in the Hotel Belvedere in Salou and was able to walk to Port Aventura from the hotel, our hotel was in an ideal location between the beach and the theme park.

You could walk from the theme park to the beach, but with children it's quite a long walk, especially if it's reallt hot.

Not sure when you are going but the PortAventura hotel has a shuttle to their Beach Club in the high season. Haven't been to the actual club but I do know it is by a really nice beach. The hotel has nice pools and there are pools at the Beach Club.

I have stayed at the El Paso and found the food really nice - I would have thought the food would be similar
