What's the best way to get cheap flights?

I've been looking up the cost of flights to France (from Scotland) in July and it'll cost about £1000 for four.

Is that just what it costs or is there a cheaper way?

Easyjet are far cheaper

Where to where and when, 4 adults is it?

skyscanner.net, or money saving experts flight checker are good options

edinburgh - nantes, 2 adults and 2 children but one is over 12 so counts as an adult I think

Also there are cheap flight search engines, google cheap flights to france

I got a return for DH to Bangkok for £400 on one of these
