Does anyone know if you can take a car seat on as hand luggage with Ryan air- I don't want it to get smashed to smithereens in the hold.

If not does anyone know of a protective bag i can buy for it?

You cannot take it on the plane - it will have to go in the fold (which they will charge you for). I'm sure you can get a bag on somewhere like Kiddicare but they are just bags and don't offer any padding really. Mine came though unscathed with Ryanair.

Normally you'd check it in as oversized luggage - use bubblewrap and a taped up box. RA may well charge extra though.
