Country pubs - nice food near to Cambridge Hotel - Gatwick

Hello.

We are staying in the Cambridge Hotel next Saturday ready for our flight the next day from Gatwick,

Do you know of any nice country pubs that are not too far away that do nice homecooked food? There is a restaurant at the hotel, but I suspect it will be rather overpriced.

I'm not sure there will be much of a dissimialr price range locally tbh. There is a Beefeater and Harvester within 5 mins drive up A23 - convenient with cheap deals if you eat early. Reigate is about 10 mins drive and has a decent range of cafes and restaurants. If you want a village pub the Castle in Outwood is ok but not particularly cheap or the Farmhouse in Horley(near new housing estate but a country feel) is supposed to be ok although we've not been there for several years and think it has changed hands.
