You could look at the Point Hotel , 5 minutes wlk from the West End of Princes St. Or the Malmaison is usually very highly recommended. I know people rave about the Witchery but the last meal I had there was, well, crap. Both these two should come in at well under Witchery prices. Hope you have a lovely time

Malmaison is v good - but minutes from Princes St is a bit optimistic. 15-20 minutes walk is realistic.

stayed at the jarvis on princes st many years ago
was fine
but we were students then and it seemed very luxurious at the time

so no help at all

dh and I stayed in a lovely boutique hotel whe we were up at Easter, you can walk to town from it. Really good service as well - Channings Hotel.
