Self catering in Spain: What food to take with us?

We are going to a small town in Menorca where there are supermarkets but I believe these are very expensive. I'd like to take some food with me on the plane.
What would you suggest?
Is there anything I'm not allowed to take?
thanks

Assuming that you've not gone yet, we just got back from Costa Brava and found food expensive in supermarkets and eating out. If I had known then what I know now and space permitting I would have taken a few packs of breakfast cereal, things like rice cakes are always good, we bought expensive Heinz beans. I would say dont get carries away and after all you might quite like getting away from your usual foods. But if your children are going to be lost without some of these things you probably should take some with you bcos they will not be cheap.
