Which resort on the Costa Brava?

I have booked flights to Girona at the begining of October and am looking for recommendations on resorts on the Costa Brava. We have 2 children of 5 and almost 3, we don't want a party capitol but we don't want somewhere dead either. Any ideas much appreciated.

Tossa De Mar? (Not far from Blanes).

It has an old castle, lovely beach, family friendly etc etc.

Blanes was nice too - but we haven't been for years.

I second Tossa, it's lovely, as is Blanes.

Platja d'aro is nice - but a little more touristy, and towns round there are nice. St pere de pescadors has a great beach.

DON'T got to Lloret, unless you want to drink in the Queen Vic and eat in Kev's fish and chip shop.
