Youth hostelling. If you're a fan, could you tell me if there is a comparable scheme in other countries?

Long title says it all really. We use them a lot and it would be nice to go to Europe on a similar basis. Can you? Have you?

Yes there is. Some of them in mainland Europe are really nice too. It is ages since I have been but I remember the Austrian and Swiss ones being the nicest.

Yes, sorry I can't comment on the family friendliness as I went pre kids too. I would imagine they are okay though, as the ones I remember as being particularly good had en suite rooms rather than dormitories -I am pretty sure they had some family rooms, and kitchen facilities were available to use.

we have stayed at several YHA sites abroad with dcs and always had the use of a family room. I can't recommend them enough.
