Recommendations for family holiday in UK- Have an 18 month old (when we go) and a 5 week old???

We are looking for the following:

Family friendly
Ideally near a beach
Ideally kiddie activites to do with parents
Self catering, cottages not hotels

Any ideas would be gratefully received as there seems to be so much choice !

Have you considered the Isle of Wight? There are some cottages [http://www.islandcottageholidays.com/cottages/index.html here.]] I haven't been, but it's always spoken of very highly on here, so it's on my list of places to holiday in this country!

We recently stayed at Broomhill Manor cottages, and they were very family friendly. It was really nice, lovely pool, but close to the town etc

We just rented a house called Snapes Loft in Salcombe, Devon and it was great. Child friendly with travel cot, stairgates and some toys. Garden has steps though so depends on how good on their feet your 18 month old is. Area is great with fab beaches and around 45 mins drive to farms and aquariums.
