When i did my work experience about 1 million years ago at Jewry Wall, Leicester they had amazing Egyptian stuff both on display and in the basement (nothing quite so creepy as bumping into a sarcophagus in the dark).

They had totally 'exquisite beuchapties' .

You may have to call them to see how much is still on display or if you can have a look in the basement .

Bristol has a good exhibit but not exactly Eastern or Central England.

Durham have one in oriental museum. But probably too north?

what about sheffield? Didn't they have some mummies there and they x rayed / mri scanned them? This was a while ago (last century recall from me student days)

It was near the university...

The one in Leicester new Walk museum is pretty good. And they have lots of other interesting stuff (they do school trips there to supplement the Eygptian project) their too.

It is free to get in too - so you ave nothing to lose!
